The Academy is unique to Home Instead, and allows us to ensure that our CAREGivers have ongoing access to excellent content, from the basics such as infection control and medication management to specialised topics such as caring for a client with dementia.
Best practice
Content is delivered through a bespoke, constantly evolving Learning Management System, ensuring staff are kept up-to-date with best practice.
CAREGivers have access to excellent content provided by other relevant organisations such as the HSE and Tusla.
Quality systems and standards
CAREGivers learn all about Home Instead’s quality systems and standards, which set us apart from other care providers.
Free, fully supported training
New recruits get 20 hours’ free, fully supported training via the Academy and are issued with Home Instead, HSELand and Tusla certificates on completion. There is an option to continue this training and receive a City & Guilds Accredited Certificate in Dementia Care. Job Aids have been put together by our in-house team of Registered Nurses and are designed to enhance a CAREGiver’s skills and knowledge through real-life scenarios, such as how to apply TED stockings or assist a client with catheter care.
QQI training
Please note: All Home Instead CAREGivers must attend our 20 hours’ induction programme via the Academy and CAREGivers who work with HSE clients must also gain a QQI qualification. Your local office will provide more information on subsidising your QQI study.
